KFA Academy League U-18, 2019-2020

LiFFA Trivandrum swaggered their way into the table top of Kerala Academy League U-18, 2019-2020, the invigorating game against Don Bosco FA, Ernakulam was as much a celebration of attacking football as it was about an incredible turnaround here on today. LiFFA were 0-1 goal down just 26minutes after the start of the game with Don Bosco FA’s forward Malik and just after the half time he again scoring in the 63rd minute, but the Four Lions of LiFFA rallied to pump in five goals, including four in the second half, through Jaison Patrick (86 and 90th), Sabin Januaries (31t), Sharan Antony (67th) and Johns Francis (84th).

The match started at a frantic pace and LiFFA had a chance as early as the first minute. Sabin had a one-two with Jaison, before firing in a fierce low shot from just inside the penalty area, which Don Bosco goalie Emmanuel palmed away.

Don Bosco FA hit back on the counter and took the lead in the 26th minute through Malik. After 5 minutes Off a fine pass from Saivin from the center, Jaison sent a diagonal penetration pass from the right which Sabin managed to squeeze himself between two Don Bosco defenders and pushed into the left side of the goal.

Just after the cooling break, Malik once again came up with a brilliant show, leading the Don Bosco attack quite well and took the lead with 2-1 against the run of play. LiFFA’s Assist master Saivin worked some space inside the center circle and sent a penetration pass into the left side of the penalty area. It fell on Jaison’s path and he controlled it smartly and turned towards goal but imbalanced Don Bosco defender pulled and dripped from behind by deliberately denying the goal scoring opportunity. Referee had no hesitation to call penalty. Sharan Antony equalize the score with 2-2 in the 67th minute through penalty.

The incredibly fast-paced first half of LiFFA, which saw action from one end to the other, gave promise of an even better second session. LiFFA had more possession and built up more attacks and more shots on target. And we regrouped and scored and soon took the lead in the 80th and 90th minute through Jaison Patrick. It turned out to be rout two minutes later as Johns Francis found the net in the 92nd minute took a remarkable night for weekend for LiFFA Trivandrum with 5-2 win. (6 matches 13 Points and 2 points ahead of Don Bosco)
