Tribute to God of Football Diego Maradona

LiFFA Trivandrum and SMRC South Kollemcode jointly organized a remembrance ceremony of world football legend Diego Maradona at SMRC stadium.

 

The God of Football is no more.

 

For many, Maradona will be remembered as more than just a player, especially in Argentina and Naples – where he led Napoli to their only two Italian league titles and the UEFA Cup, their only major European trophy.

 

“His gift as a broker of emotions, his artistry in the most noble and revered of games, was his route to becoming a household name like no other. Diego Maradona’s legacy is a true path for young footballers to follow. Football enthusiast or not, people across the world would eagerly watch as this “Golden Boy” showcased wonders with a ball in his feet.

 

In these heartbreaking moments let us cherish what he planted and nurture what he left behind. His legend will always live within our minds and will be remembered forever in our hearts.

 

SMRC president Mr.SelvarajKanakaraj, SMRC secretary Mr. Selvaraj Joseph, South Kollemcode parish priest Rev. Fr. AntoJoris and LiFFA coach Mr. Vincent Dominic spoke to the young players about the legend Diego Maradona’s legacy, is a true path for young footballers to follow. Football enthusiast or not, people across the world would eagerly watch as this “Golden Boy” showcased wonders with a ball in his feet.

“Tribute to Diego Maradona”

As long as there is football in Buenos Aires, Naples and all over the world, he will be living. LiFFA Trivandrum and F. A. Valiyathura jointly organized a memorial function as pays tribute to world football legend Diego Maradona. As a tribute to the admiration of Maradona by the players of both teams who participated in the exhibition match as part of the event held at the Valiyathura V. F. A Ground, all the players wore the number 10 as Maradona of Argentina and also Maradona’s face was worn on the front of the famous jersey.

Both teams entered the ground behind a flag with a picture of Maradona on it. Before the match, all the footballers and fans laid wreaths at Maradona’s picture.

LiFFA Trivandrum won the match by a solo goal in a tense match witnessed by hundreds of football fans and Maradona fans. Shikku Sunil, who played for India at the Asian School Games in Indonesia last year, scored the winning goal.

Maradona has a large Argentine fan base on the mainland and on the coast, which is home to many football players. Many of the players commented that they see football as a religion and Maradona as a god. Dr.Sreedharan addressed the gathering as a tribute to Maradona. LiFFA Secretary Jude Antony, V. F. A. President H.W. Aloysius, Vice President Steran Fells, VFA former President Augustine Puthran, V. F. A. coaches Anil Antony, Tommy Xavier and Jerin Gerald spoke. LiFFA Technical Director Cleofas Alex and Secretary Jude Antony said that this week will be announced as Maradona Memorial Week will be held in association with clubs across the coast in a friendly match with clubs across the coast to pay tribute to world legend Diego Maradona.
