The Second Edition of SOMATHEERAM LIFFA CUP with 40 participating teams saw 242 goals from just 64 matches of which 123 were scored by the U-14 teams and the rest 119 were netted by the U-16 teams. Both the categories witnessed beautiful goals that reminded us of world class footballers. LiFFA Trivandrum won both the categories of the prestigious tournament which was dominated by South Indian Teams with RVSS Tamilnadu as the Runner-up in U-16 category and JEPPIAAR, Chennai as the Runner-up in U-14 category.

An impressive crowd attended the final game between LiFFA Trivandrum between RVSS Tamilnadu at G.V Raja pavilion. Both the team had a chance to take the lead in the opening minute, Bexon curling the ball just wide from the goal. The LiFFA deservedly took the lead in the 50th minute when Bexon nodded down a cross just outside the penalty area, which Anittan expertly converted by a long ranger. It was his 5th goal. After the final whistle, LiFFA’s captain Anittan Antony was handed the trophy to great applause and created in style with the rest of the team.

The Second Edition LiFFA Cup served up many other enjoyable and unique stories, but this report focuses on the numbers and the in-depth analysis of the LiFFA study group. It is an outstanding testimony to everything that took place on and off the pitch during Somatheeram LiFFA Cup II Edition, an unforgettable youth football tournament in the nation. The revolution that is the live telecasting fills us with pride and over time we will know even more clearly how it is beneficial for the entire career of young players.

Before concluding into the details of extraordinary work performed by the LiFFA Cup organizing team, which you will have the pleasure of discovering in this revamped report, we need to thank all those who contributed to making second edition Somatheeram LiFFA Cup the best youth football tournament in India to date.

Our thanks go to the LiFFA authorities, who did an incredible job in providing magnificent, ultramodern facilities and safe, hospitable environment that fostered a wonderful month long celebrations of football. We are also grateful to the tens of hundreds of locals who welcomed us with genuine grace and warmth, and obviously to all those who were involved in the running of the tournament, from the organizing committee to the amazing volunteers and the LiFFA administration.

Finally, although it goes without saying, we owe the biggest debt of all to those who played an active part in this tournament becoming such a beacon of hope and beauty. Therefore, a massive thank you to the players, coaches and officials, the fans from all over the coastal region and Trivandrum and Kanyakumari districts and to all those behind the scenes, all of whom conducted themselves in an exemplary manner. Even with flawless organisations and stadium, a spectacle of such grandeur simply would not have been possible without these people. It is undoubtedly because of them that we have enjoyed every single moment and that this fantastic LiFFA Cup will live for so long in the memory. In coastal region, they made us fall in love with our game all over again a game with unique and unrivalled appeal, which belongs to everybody and is for everybody, now and forever.
